Joseph Potvin is Coordinator of ERA-ART (The Earth-Reserve Archetype (ERA) Developers Group / Le Groupe de développeurs de l'Archétype d'une réserve de la Terre (ART), an initiative to design, develop and operate a system for currency exchange rate determination based upon data supply principles of the International Council for Science (ICSU) http://www.icsu.org/Gestion/img/ICSU_DOC_DOWNLOAD/2123_DD_FILE_SCID_Repo..., and programming principles of the Free Software Foundation (FSF) http://www.gnu.org/philosophy/shouldbefree.html. Recently he conducted a panel session on "Modeling Requirements and Opportunities of the Earth-Reserve Currency Exchange Indexing System" at the 2011 World Conference on Natural Resource Modeling hosted by the Telfer School of Management http://www.omrn-rrgo.ca/docs/CFOAM%20seminar%20announce%20June2011.pdf. In 2009 he delivered the keynote address at the Second Annual Symposium on Value Investing held in Greece, entitled "Beyond Ben Graham’s Currency Proposal: Retrospect and Evolution", at the invitation of the Ivey School of Business. http://www.bengrahaminvesting.ca/Outreach/2009_Symposium.htm  Separately, throughout the past decade Mr. Potvin has served within the Canadian Government, primarily as the founding coordinator of the Intellectual Resources Canada (IRCan) Initiative http://www.ircan.gc.ca  During the 1990s he worked as a contact economist through various lead organizations, on assignments for the World Bank in his capacity as an economist (debt-for-nature swap transactions; and, economic appraisal of conservation investments for the Global Environment Facility) and as a software systems architect (a grants manangement system, which, under free/libre licensing is still in active use a decade later by the Global Development Network; and, migration of the Bank's corporate email system migration). In 1990-91 he coordinated an international workshop on economic-ecological indicators for the Environment Deputy Minister's "Canadian Environmental Advisory Council", and a national workshop on fiscal instruments for economic-ecological alignment for the "Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment". Proir that he worked as an economist on the core drafting team for Canada's Green Plan, at Environment Canada's Corporate Policy Group (co-drafting sections relating to national accounts and economic instruments), and with the Rawson Academy of Aquatic Science, to prepare a summary of the economic accounting results of the Valdez oil spill, for submission to the federal Cabinet Committee on the Environment.
