Thomas Edison once said "Genius is one percent inspiration and 99 percent perspiration", and that's the same for open source projects. BigBlueButton started at Carleton University to reduce the costs of enabling remote students to participate in courses. The project has now grown into a full-blown open source web conferencing system, with all the challenges thereof.
This talk will be technical in nature. Blindside Networks provides commercial support for BigBlueButton, and it is one of the main contributors to the open source project. We will share our experiences gained during the project’s growth, including integrating disparate open source components (red5, tomcat, activeMQ, Asterisk, and others) into a single cohesive system, along with the challenges we faced in testing and deploying that system to other Universities.
Be prepared to see two guys from Blindside Networks perspire heavily during most of their talk.
