Systemtap is a powerful and flexible tool for monitoring activity on Linux systems. It is a script-based implementation allowing for detailed control of which events are probed and what kind of output is produced. Systemtap has the ability to probe the entire system, including the kernel itself, as well as applications in the user space. This talk will give an overview of systemtap's capabilities with focus on the probing of user space applications.
